Light Roast (8)

Roasted short, so the sugars caramelise less and the character of the origin survives into the cup: citrus, florals, more perceived acidity and a lighter body. Light roasts reward filter, pour over and AeroPress, where you have room to taste the separation, and they punish a sloppy espresso extraction because there is less roast sweetness to hide behind. Our Bravo Turkish and Greek styles also sit at the light end, which is traditional for cezve brewing rather than a specialty choice.

Light roast coffee beans

Light roasts keep the most origin character: citrus, florals and a lighter body. Bravo Excelsio is the one to try for espresso or pour over. The rest of this collection is traditional cezve coffee, Turkish, Greek and Lebanese, which is roasted light by tradition and ground to powder.

Is light roast more acidic?

It tastes brighter, because less of the coffee's natural acidity is roasted away. If you find it sour on espresso, grind a little finer, or try a medium roast.
