Description
The bamboo whisk with the bowl and stand it needs, in a plain modern finish.
A chasen is carved from a single piece of bamboo into eighty or a hundred fine tines. Those tines are what break matcha into suspension: a spoon pushes the powder around, a fork makes bubbles, only a chasen actually aerates it into a fine even foam.
Five piece or seven piece, in green or yellow ceramic. The seven piece adds the sifter and scoop. Modern simplicity styling rather than traditional Japanese, so it suits a plain kitchen bench.

Ceremonial grade is made from young first-harvest leaves and is meant to be whisked with water and drunk on its own. Culinary grade is designed to hold its flavour against milk and sugar in lattes and baking.
Sift a small measure into a bowl, add water at around 80 degrees rather than boiling, and whisk briskly until it foams. For a latte, make that paste first and then add your milk.
Keep it sealed, cold and away from light. Matcha loses colour and sweetness quickly once air reaches it, so reseal it properly after every use.
