Description
The stand that keeps a bamboo whisk usable, in three porcelain glazes.
A chasen is bamboo. Left to dry lying on its side or standing on its tines, it splays, the tines take a set, and within about a month it stops aerating properly. The holder is a domed form you invert the whisk over, so the tines dry in the curve they were carved to.
This is the single cheapest thing you can buy to make an expensive whisk last. If you already own a chasen and no stand, buy this before you buy another whisk.

Common questions
Ceremonial grade is made from young first-harvest leaves and is meant to be whisked with water and drunk on its own. Culinary grade is designed to hold its flavour against milk and sugar in lattes and baking.
Sift a small measure into a bowl, add water at around 80 degrees rather than boiling, and whisk briskly until it foams. For a latte, make that paste first and then add your milk.
Keep it sealed, cold and away from light. Matcha loses colour and sweetness quickly once air reaches it, so reseal it properly after every use.
