Description

Clear glaze ceramic in a retro shape, with the bamboo whisk and the rest of the kit.

A clear glaze over ceramic gives a softer, slightly retro look than the matte finishes, and it shows the matcha's colour properly against the bowl. Heat resistant and safe at the temperatures matcha needs, which is well under boiling anyway.

The 4 piece covers bowl, bamboo whisk, scoop and stand. The 7 piece adds the sifter, a spouted server and a spare stand, which is the configuration to pick if you are making iced lattes rather than straight matcha.

Common questions

What is the difference between ceremonial and culinary grade?

Ceremonial grade is made from young first-harvest leaves and is meant to be whisked with water and drunk on its own. Culinary grade is designed to hold its flavour against milk and sugar in lattes and baking.

How do I prepare it?

Sift a small measure into a bowl, add water at around 80 degrees rather than boiling, and whisk briskly until it foams. For a latte, make that paste first and then add your milk.

How should I store it?

Keep it sealed, cold and away from light. Matcha loses colour and sweetness quickly once air reaches it, so reseal it properly after every use.
