Description
An embossed ceramic matcha bowl with the bamboo whisk, scoop and stand that go with it.
This is the set to buy if you are starting from nothing. The bowl is wide and shallow, which is the whole point of a chawan: you need room to move the whisk in a W motion without slopping it over the rim. A mug will not do this.
Choose 4, 5 or 7 piece. The 4 piece covers bowl, bamboo whisk (chasen), bamboo scoop (chashaku) and whisk stand. The larger sets add a sifter and a spouted pouring bowl, which is what stops lumps before they start.
Five glaze finishes: light green, matte white, matcha, bright white and matting agent. Each ships in a plain green gift box. Delivered Australia wide from our supplier's warehouse, shipping calculated by weight at checkout.

Common questions
Ceremonial grade is made from young first-harvest leaves and is meant to be whisked with water and drunk on its own. Culinary grade is designed to hold its flavour against milk and sugar in lattes and baking.
Sift a small measure into a bowl, add water at around 80 degrees rather than boiling, and whisk briskly until it foams. For a latte, make that paste first and then add your milk.
Keep it sealed, cold and away from light. Matcha loses colour and sweetness quickly once air reaches it, so reseal it properly after every use.
